Downhill Skiing and Snowboarding
There are plenty of things to do in the Okanagan this winter and this includes hitting the slopes. Head to one of the ski hills for a day on the powder. The valley has a variety of options depending on what you’re looking for. The top 5 resorts are Big White, Silver Star, Sun Peaks, Revelstoke and Apex Mountain. Head down to the Kelowna Nordic Ski and Snowshoe club for a fun day out in the snow. Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing can be enjoyed by the whole family, including your furry friend!

Fire and Ice Festival
The South Okanagan Fire and Ice Festival will debut this year and it’s exciting! From November 25th to December 3rd, experience the food, wine and culture that the Okanagan Valley has to offer. This is a wonderful opportunity to support your local artisans and community members all while reconnecting with your neighbours this winter season. If you’re looking for something to do in Osoyoos, this is a great event to experience. This might even be great option for a day trip if you’re looking for things to do in Penticton as Osoyoos is only a 1-hour drive away.
The Fire and Ice Carnival will be held at Spirit Resort on November 26th. The carnival will not only feature live entertainment, but you’ll also be able to enjoy featured food pairings along with 16 different wineries, distilleries, and cideries from South Okanagan.
While most of the festival will be free to attend and open to families of all ages, the carnival itself will be an adult only event with tickets priced at $65 per person.

Skating and the Downtown Kelowna Winter Street Market
Looking for things to do in Kelowna? Head out to Stuart Park outdoor rink for a free skate with friends and family starting on December 1st (weather permitting). A quick walk away from Kelowna City Park, this outdoor rink is a great place to spend a few hours especially when the weather in Kelowna is mild. Plus, on Saturday, December 3rd from 11-6, enjoy the free community event hosted by Downtown Kelowna Association. The Winter Street Market is filled with all things festive, including Santa visits, lighting of the tree in Stuart Park, music, holiday shopping and more!
